future together
The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC) and the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) are proud to present Brighter Futures: A National Conference on Adults with Down Syndrome and Aging.
Bringing together individuals with Down syndrome (ages 18 and up), their family members and friends, health care professionals, educators, advocates and others from across the country, this transformative gathering will feature the latest research findings and timely information from national experts on a range of topics related to adulthood and aging for individuals with Down syndrome. This includes cutting edge research and clinical trials, including those related to Alzheimer’s disease; health and wellness including physical fitness, mental health and health equity; education, including transition planning, post-secondary education, and housing options; career exploration and employment; financial planning; authentic community inclusion; and much more!
The conference will celebrate our adult and aging loved ones with Down syndrome, their family members and friends as well as the many medical professionals, educators, advocates, and other supporters who will connect with one another, share best practices, celebrate victories, advocate for acceptance and inclusion, and reunite at this exclusive conference aimed at building a brighter future as people transition to adulthood and become active members of their communities. This conference will also advance understanding of Down syndrome and aging, and promote the development of beneficial approaches to addressing the medical, mental health, social, and emotional challenges faced by older adults with Down syndrome.

Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress
The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC), founded in 1983, works tirelessly to ensure that all individuals with Down syndrome are valued, included, and given every opportunity to pursue fulfilling lives. MDSC offers a broad array of programs to serve people with Down syndrome and their families throughout the lifespan.
MDSC operates four Centers of Excellence, each providing unique and invaluable information, support and empowerment opportunities including: the MDSC Legislative Action Center, National Parents First Call Center, Center on Inclusive Education and Your Next Star Employment Center, as well as a fully searchable online Resource Library for people with Down syndrome and their families, educators, health care professionals, researchers, and the community-at-large wherever they live.
MDSC is committed to advocacy and innovation in the Down syndrome and disability communities working with local, state and national partners to advance forward-thinking approaches and proven excellence leading to opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential across their lifespan.

National Down Syndrome Society
NDSS is creating a world where individuals with Down syndrome are seen, heard, and fully supported—through advocacy, research, resources, and community engagement. NDSS was founded in 1979 by a mother determined to ensure her daughter with Down syndrome had the same opportunities as any other child. What began as a parent-driven mission has grown into a national nonprofit that supports individuals with Down syndrome and their families at every stage of life.
Over the past four decades, NDSS has led some of the most pivotal advances in Down syndrome rights and representation—shaping education, healthcare, employment policy, and more. Self-advocates help lead the organization from within, serving on staff and the board, and guiding its direction.
In 2025, NDSS expanded its impact by bringing the LuMind IDSC Foundation under its umbrella—further strengthening its role in driving research, health equity, and family support.
NDSS continues to show what’s possible when advocacy is personal, support is lifelong, and every voice has a seat at the table.
