Maria Paiewonsky, Ed.D. is a Senior Associate and Transition Specialist at the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She directs the Massachusetts Transition Leadership Initiative, which has prepared over 180 master’s-level Transition Specialists, and the Massachusetts Center for Inclusive Higher Education and Transition. Maria has more than 20 years of experience providing training and technical assistance to schools, colleges, and state partners to expand inclusive college and transition opportunities for students with disabilities. She also consults with the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and the national Think College initiative. Her research focuses on college-based transition services and inclusive, participatory research methods. She has overseen numerous state and federal projects that support successful postschool outcomes for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
