Dr. Sujata Bardhan is a Program Director at the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Branch at The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Boston University and completed postdoctoral training in the Drug Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry unit at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. She also completed the Clinical Research Training Program at Duke University, gaining expertise in managing clinical trials in her portfolio. .

Since joining NICHD in 2013, Dr. Bardhan has led DS-Connect®: The Down Syndrome Registryand other Down syndrome related grants and projects including activities of INCLUDE (INvestigation of Co-occurring conditions across the Lifespan to Understand Down syndromE) Project. She also plays a key role as a Program Officer in the newly launched NIH Collaboration for Down Syndrome Progress (CDP) initiative which studies Down syndrome from birth to adulthood overseeing Clinical Research Sites across the US and Latin America, and actively fosters training and mentorship for emerging Down syndrome researchers. .

She is passionate about engagement, outreach, and fostering broad participation in the Down syndrome community, with a focus on programs that benefit under-resourced communities in the US to address health disparities in Down syndrome.
